your reasons don’t have to be big, if they mean anything to you then they’re good reasons.

Yes! Just make something to look forward to

Okay but this is honestly true.

One of the closest times I came to committing suicide was when I was home alone for the weekend a few years ago. The reason I didn’t?

No one else was there to feed the cat until Monday. 

That’s it. That’s all that saved me. 

See, this is such good advice, because it can put you in the frame of mind that you need to be in to combat depression. Even things that seem little, like, “My plant will die if I don’t water it,” or “I’m the only one that takes out the trash, anyways” are examples of how you’re needed and valuable, even appreciated.

There are people out there that need you and love you. Stay alive friend, because it is so worth it.

Eunhye nodded again and watched him. She worried for one second about their weight differences and whether she’d be able to pull it off, but shrugged the thought away. No room for self-doubt here. She stepped forward, arms in position. Koei seemed to know what she was going for and went for a punch. She grinned and spun her hand around his, effectively wrapping her arm around his which brought her closer to him. Before she could hesitate and ruin the move, she quickly leaned forward and pulled hard. His body went flying over her and landed with a soft bang against one of the mats she’d set on the floor before he’d arrived. 

She straightened up and watched him slowly get up. A small satisfied smile formed on her face before she could stop it. “I guess I’m improving from last time.”

There was more in that throw than just her practicing and refreshing. And he had more than deserved it. And the smile on her face basically said he did. Perhaps he was not handling the situation the best but what could he do? He stopped his thoughts, dusting himself off as he stood.

Stop this, Koei. Now is not the time.

“Good,” he said matter-of-factly, turning back to his student, attitude now changed. “You have a good handle on the throwing technique. Let us go over the punches.” He held ihis hands out, palms facing her. “Start with a one-two pattern. Aim for the center of my palms.”

Her smile faltered. She’d expected some anger, some hurt. But, she couldn’t tell if it was pride or indifference she heard in his voice. She nodded and got into position, balling up her fists.

“Okay. Let’s see how good my aim is.”

She was conflicted, and her body did well to show it. The memory of what they’d been doing before the dream changed caused a flush to rise up her neck and make her cheeks and nose rosy. But, even so, her skin crawled at the reminder of what it had led to.

“Koei … we …” She rubbed the back of her neck. “We hadn’t seen each other in a long time. A-and, we haven’t been doing that well since, so I guess I-I … I missed you. I think that’s why the dream started out …” She looked down again, thankful that some hair fell in the way to block some of her face. “You were … pleasing me, a-and … we were about to …” She’d begun wringing her hands. “Just before we could actually do what we were going to do … the dream changed. You were gone, and I heard a voice that wasn’t yours. Saying things you’d never say.”

Koei hesitated, not wanting to even acknowledge what her subconscious mind was trying to tell her and remind him. He didn’t like that the man was in her dreams to begin with but learning that he turned into the man at all was a blow. He hung his head, eyes closing as his fists started to tighten.

“That is….  I am sorry.”

She turned and put her hand on his shoulder. “This isn’t your fault. You didn’t do anything wrong.” She turned his head towards her. “I don’t know why my mind went there. But, it’s not you I’m afraid of.”

“Ah! Have we met yet? I don’t believe we have?” She held out her hand with a smile.

“I don’t recall it, and if I don’t, I’m sure we haven’t.” He took her hand, but instead of shaking it, he pressed a kiss to the back of her hand. “I’m Daichi, and it’s nice to meet you.”

“Well, then I’m sorry we haven’t been properly introduced. I’m Dr. Yoon. Most people around here just call me Eunhye, so you’re more than welcome to do so.” She smiled and shook her head. “How gentlemanly of you.”
